Macmillan Dog Day

On 5th July, dogs from all around the country will join a host of canine celebrities to gather in the grounds of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, for a day of doggy decadence in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief. Macmillan Dog Day, sponsored by Pedigree , will consist of fun and wonderful doggy classes and general canine indulgence to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Now in it’s fourth year and ever popular among celebrity dog lovers, such as Lady Isabella Hervey and Trinny & Susannah who have attended the event in previous years, Macmillan Dog Day has something for everyone and is a great day out for both dogs and their owners. The most pampered four-legged friend can compete for the annual title of ‘Most Pedigree Pooch 2005’, whereas the more down-to-earth dog can partake in competitions such as the ‘Dog with the Waggiest Tail’ and the ‘Dog & Owner Lookalike Award’, judged by celebrities including Neil Fox of Pop Idol. For those visitors that don’t fancy taking part in the classes throughout the day, Pedigree and Macmillan have arranged plenty of other activities; dog-owners can stock up on delicious Pedigree treats at the dogs deli, check out the impressive flyball display or watch a demonstration from the UK Fire Service Search & Rescue Dog Team. Top dog expert Kath Hardman will also be practising her ‘Dancing Dogs’ technique, giving visitors the chance take part and try out their new skills with their own dogs.

Sally Shaw, spokesperson for Pedigree comments \"Macmillan Dog Day is always a highlight in the dog-world calendar as it is such a fun day out for everyone. The event brings celebrities and dog-owners together to celebrate the love of dogs and raise lots of money for a very worthy cause - Pedigree is honoured to support this event.\"

Application forms for class entries are also available from the Macmillan London Events Office.

To ensure the happiness and safety of all dogs there will be a fully qualified vet on site throughout the event, who will also be on hand to offer any general veterinary advice.
