National Walk a Dog to School Day |
|
The UK’s most well known rescue centre, Battersea Dogs Home is hosting the second Walk a Dog to School Day on 6th July. The event aims to encourage kids, teachers and parents nationwide to leave their cars at home and walk to school to help raise much needed funds for the Home.
Walk a Dog to School Day is the ideal time to remind people of the benefits of dog walking, which not only helps owners and pets to keep fit but research also shows that walking a dog can also help to reduce stress too.
Battersea Dogs Home hopes that people throughout the whole of the will take part. And the benefits are plentiful! All participants will be:
involving the school in a creative and worthwhile activity
helping to encourage healthy exercise for children
increasing awareness of responsible pet ownership and interaction with dogs
raising valuable funds for Battersea Dogs Home’s dogs and cats
Fiona Healey-Hutchinson, Head of Fundraising at Battersea Dogs Home says, \"National Walk a Dog to School Day is a great chance for kids and adults to get that little extra outdoor exercise. Absolutely anyone can take part as you don’t necessarily have to own a dog yourself – maybe an neighbour or a family friend has a dog just panting for a walk? Schools can also arrange other fundraising activities on the day such as holding a fete or fun run. Whatever you do, the dogs and cats at Battersea Dogs Home really need your support so please, please sign up now!\"
